Para Snowsport Team awarded £20,000 Paralympic preparations grant by leading charity Get Kids Going!

British hopes for the Paralympic Winter Games have received a welcome boost with the news of a new grant funding award from long-time supporters Get Kids Going!

GB Snowsport are delighted to announce receipt of a £20,000 grant funding package from Get Kids Going! to support preparations for the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing.

The grant, which will go towards the delivery of preparation camps for eight athletes across all three disciplines (Para Alpine, Para Nordic and Para Snowboard), continues the support that Get Kids Going! have offered to British Para Snowsport athletes over recent years, and will play an important role in boosting preparations for the team that heads to Beijing when the Games begin next month.

Jayne Kavanagh, GB Snowsport Head of Paralympic Programmes, welcomed the investment, saying:

“Get Kids Going! have been dedicated supporters of GB Snowsport’s Para Snowsport squad for many years now, and this new grant comes at a really important time as we count down towards the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games.

“As this month’s World Para Snow Sports Championships showed, British Para Snowsport athletes have shown themselves to be competitive in more events and classifications than ever before. The funding offered by Get Kids Going! will help us to deliver on that promise, and go into the Beijing Games with the team at its most competitive.”

Get Kids Going! is a national charity which gives disabled children and young people access to sport and provides support to aspiring Paralympic athletes in the build-up to major events including the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. The charity, whose President is British Paralympic legend David Weir, provides invaluable support to a range of sports across Britain, including Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby, Boccia UK and British Para Shooting, as well as GB Snowsport’s Para Snowsport programme.
