Former Snowboard Cross World Cup squad racer to begin in post next month

We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Maisie Potter as our new Para Snowboard Performance Coach ahead of the start of the 2026/27 season.

Maisie, a longstanding member of the GB Snowsport Snowboard Cross World Cup squad member before her retirement in 2022, will have accountability for leading the training and development of a Para Snowboard team that took five athletes to the Paralympic Winter Games in Milano-Cortina earlier this year, and boasts significant pedigree on the World Cup and World Championships stage.

A highly regarded Snowboard Cross racer from her youth, Maisie made her World Cup debut in 2016 and raced to 14^th place in the 2017 World Championships, and continued representing the nation on the international stage until January 2022. Since stepping away from the race circuit, Maisie has transitioned naturally into coaching. For the last four years, Maisie has been coaching the next generation of Australian and other international junior athletes who have achieved podiums at international level, World Cup starts, and national team selections.

Commenting on her appointment, Maisie said:

“I am delighted to be back with the British team and especially excited for this new chapter as Performance Coach for the Para Snowboard team. Looking forward to joining them on snow next month!

“I have been very impressed by the level of the Para Snowboard discipline over the years, and GB Snowsport has been a major player in that growth. The foundations and structure of this team is already very strong. I’m looking forward to getting started and using my own experiences of the international snowboard racing scene to help bring another dimension and take this team to the next level.”

GB Snowsport Head of Paralympic Programmes, James Redpath, said:

“We had enormous interest in this role, but Maisie was the standout candidate, and we’re really pleased that she’s agreed to join the team.

“Maisie’s experience and knowledge will bring real benefits to the team, and I’m confident that she’ll prove a great fit as we start our journey towards the next Paralympic Winter Games in 2030.

“Our departing coaches, James Sweet and Karel van Goor, leave behind a real coaching legacy for the team. In Maisie we feel we have found a coach to continue the journey and build on the success with the high-level athletes that make up the British Para Snowboarding team.”

The Para Snowboard World Cup season is due to get underway at Landgraaf in November.
