Brookes bags first World Cup win in dominant Beijing Big Air showing

Dub 12 and Cab 14 combo enough to secure maiden World Cup victory for snowboard superstar

Mia Brookes secured her first World Cup victory in the Beijing Big Air World Cup this morning with a dominant showing.

Sitting second after the first jump with a well-executed Dub 12, Brookes blew away the competition with a sensational Cab-14 on the third jump to leave her with a total score of 179.75, enough to put her on top of the podium ahead of Japan’s Mari Fukada, and Anna Gasser of Austria.

Speaking afterwards, Mia said:

“I’m really hyped! I didn’t expect to win, but I just wanted to do the tricks I did and I landed them and that ended up being enough, so I’m really hyped.”

Freestyle Snowboard coach, Ben Kinnear, added:

“As a coaching staff, we’re over the moon. Mia’s intention this week was to come here, put the new back double 12 down in competition, which she’s done exceptionally well. She’s practiced so well all week, her whole process has been brilliant to see. This competition was all about the trick and coupling it with the cab-14, and the result’s taken care of itself. So yeah, we’re just over the moon, and excited for the next few contests into the new year. Huge well done to Mia, well earned.”
