A former Staff Sergeant in the army, Steve lost his legs when he stepped on an IED while serving for the army in Afghanistan in 2011.

Within a year Steve had turned his attention to hand cycling where he competed as vice-captain for Great Britain at the Invictus Games and took part in the Race Across America alongside other injured
military veterans.

It wasn’t long before Steve joined the British Cycling programme, but after failing to qualify for the 2016 Rio Paralympics Games, he turned his attention towards Nordic skiing, taking up the sport in January 2017.

Narrowly missing out on selection for PyeongChang four years ago, Steve will make his Paralympic debut at Beijing competing in both the Biathlon and Cross Country events.

"I’ve even been known to bang on the odd Disney soundtrack now and then as it also helps me stay in zone and not get carried away, which is easy to do when a song with a beat kicks in."
