Born in Chelmsford, Makayla began skiing as a four-year-old on a family holiday in Val Thorens. At six, her family decided to move to the French Alps, and by the time she was eleven Makayla was skiing for the local Freestyle team, following in the footsteps of her brother, Thomas, and sister, Leonie, both of whom would go on to represent Britain in international Moguls skiing.

Makayla’s made her Moguls World Cup debut in 2017, landing her first top 10 finish in 2020, and taking a first World Cup podium in 2023 when she finished third in the Val St. Come Dual Moguls World Cup. She is a veteran of five World Championships, with a brace of top 10 finishes at the 2023 Bakuriani World Championships, and made her Olympic debut in 2022 competing alongside her sister. Her performances in Beijing saw her finish eighth in the single competition, taking Britain’s best ever Olympic Moguls result.
