Matéo has French father and a British mother and was brought up in the resort of Alpe d’Huez where he learnt to ski with his father. He joined the local ski club, started Alpine skiing and was successful in competitions. At twelve, he transitioned into Freestyle skiing, and began participating in Slopestyle and Moguls competitions, and at fourteen elected to focus solely on Mogul skiing.

Since joining the British team in 2020, Matéo’s performances have gone from strength-to-strength. He won his first Europa Cup in 2022, and secured his first World Cup top-20 and a Junior World Championships podium in 2023. The 2023/24 season marked Matéo’s best to date, taking sixth place at the Ruka World Cup, and being crowned World Junior Champion at the 2024 Valmalenco Championships, where he also came third in Dual Moguls.
