Matéo was born in Grenoble, France and has a French father and a British mother. He was brought up in the resort of Alpe d’Huez where he learnt to ski with his father. He joined the local ski club, started Alpine skiing and was successful in competitions. At twelve years old, he transitioned into Freestyle skiing, and began participating in Slopestyle and Moguls competitions. In 2018, at fourteen years old, he decided to focus 100% on Mogul skiing to pursue his Olympic dream.

After winning French national competitions in 2019, he joined the GB Snowsport Moguls team for the 2020 season. He is now training hard with the GB squad, whilst doing his A levels.
