Gabriel was born near Ipswich, Essex and lived there for 1 year with his family including; two older brothers, his father who is Canadian, and his mother who was also born near Ipswich. After living there for the first part of his life, his family moved to the west coast of Canada and that is where Gabriel grew up, on Vancouver Island. He started ski racing at the age of 11 and joined the British team at the age of 17. He has since evolved through the GB pathway system.

He made his World Cup debut at Trondheim, Norway in December 2023 and has competed in four World Junior/U23 Championships for Great Britain.
