KIRSRY MUIR QUALIFIES FOR HER FOURTH OLYMPIC FINALS
Kirsty Muir returned to action for the second time at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic Games, taking to the Big Air jump which saw her qualify for finals in fourth place.
The 21-year-old put down a left double 1440 safety on her opening run, backing it up with a right double 1080 safety on run two, to earn her a combined score of 167.50 and a spot in Monday’s finals.
This marks Muir’s fourth Olympic finals of her career, following her fourth place finish in Slopestyle earlier this week and building on her Olympic debut at the Beijing Games in 2022.
The women’s Freeski Big Air finals will take place on Monday 16 February at 18:30 GMT.
A HISTORIC DUAL MOGULS DEBUT FOR GERKEN SCHOFIELD
Makayla Gerken Schofield took to the slopes again in Livigno for the first-ever Dual Moguls event at the Winter Olympic Games.
The 26-year-old lined up in Heat 11 of the 1/16 finals, where she faced Austria’s Avital Carroll in Heat 11 of the 1/16 final, in the head-to-head knockout format.
A fiercely competitive run saw Gerken Schofield cross the line just 0.75 seconds behind her opponent, earning her 12 points and placing her 22nd overall – matching her individual Moguls performance earlier in the week.
While she did not progress beyond the opening round, it was a milestone moment for both athlete and discipline, and a Dual Moguls debut to be proud of for the two-time Olympian.
