Injury Update: Menna Fitzpatrick

Injury Update: Menna Fitzpatrick

Para Alpine star to undergo intensive rehab regime over coming weeks

Earlier this month, in training for the Steinach World Cup, Menna Fitzpatrick sustained a knee injury which ruled her out of the full programme of pre-Christmas races. Following a series of scans and on-going consultations with our medical team, the decision has been made for Menna to undergo a period of targeted rehabilitation over the coming weeks which will keep her off snow throughout January. Further medical assessments are expected to provide greater clarity thereafter.

The timing of Menna’s injury, following a separate leg injury which kept her out of action last season, meant that she and her guide, Katie Guest, were ineligible for nomination to the ParalympicsGB Milan-Cortina snowsport squad in the first round of nominations last week, however the pair remain eligible for the second round of nominations which will take place in February.

With her rehabilitation programme already underway, the team’s intention is to support Menna to achieve a phased return to snow in time for her to be ready to qualify for and compete at the Milan-Cortina Paralympic Winter Games in March.

Commenting on her injury, Menna said:

“I am working hard on rehab and it’s going well. We are optimistic that I will be fit and ready to make the second round of nominations, and look forward to hopefully competing at the Milan-Cortina Paralympic Winter Games with Katie Guest as my Guide.”

Everyone at GB Snowsport is fully focused on supporting Menna in her rehabilitation, and we look forward to seeing her return to snow as the management of her injury progresses.
