double olympian battles for the moguls final
Makayla Gerken Schofield gave everything in the Women’s Moguls Today. She fought all the way, delivering a determined and committed run. Narrowly missing out on the final by just 2.6 points, she leaves the competition having showcased a performance to be proud of, and with the Dual Moguls competition still to come, as the event makes it Olympic Winter Games debut.
Speaking after her second qualification run, Makayla said:
“I’m a bit frustrated and quite emotional. I’m pretty happy with my run, but htere were a few mistakes with the bumps.
“My skis crossed in the middle section and I thought I was going to all, but I caught it so I can be proud of that. I was really enjoying myself today and felt pretty relaxed. I just wanted to get down and ski, so that’s pretty positive.
“It means the world to have friends and family here. Feeling the way I am right now, I can go to them for a huge and talk through it with them. It makes it feel like home again.”
Gerken Schofield returns to action in the dual moguls on Saturday morning.
