GBS Results Round-Up: top-20 for Ryding as Slalom World Cup season begins

Tough conditions in Levi make for challenging season opener

Dave Ryding was the pick of British interest at the Levi Slalom World Cup this weekend, finishing sixteenth amid difficult conditions at the Lapland resort.

Drawn in bib four and sitting in fifth place at the turn after an excellent first run on new Head skis, Ryding’s time of 1:56.47 was enough to secure a top-20 finish and put him less than a second outside of the top-10.

Ryding’s teammates Billy Major and Laurie Taylor faced a challenging weekend, finishing in 40th and 42nd spots respectively after the first run.

In the previous’s day’s Women’s Slalom contest, Vici Palla lodged a first run DNF on only her fourth career World Cup start.

The Alpine line-up is set to return to action next week at the Gurgl Slalom World Cup.
