GB Snowsport welcomes positive independent governance assurance

GB Snowsport welcomes positive independent governance assurance

Multiple independent reviews return positive assurance on GB Snowsport governance

Over the past 13 months, GB Snowsport is pleased to have received positive independent and internal assurance reviews, which include:

  • The Independent Board Governance Report, in which UK Sport was involved and to which it contributed funding, received in July 2025;
  • The positive NSPCC Annual Safeguarding Review, in October 2025;
  • The positive Culture Health Check in October 2025, and
  • GB Snowsport’s recognised compliance with the UK Sport Code for Sport Governance, in August 2025.

This body of assurance evidence is consistent with a picture of strong governance within GB Snowsport. UK Sport’s assessment that GB Snowsport is not fit and proper to receive public funding for the French Alps 2030 Cycle on the basis of its governance is at odds with the clear and consistent conclusions evidenced by those independent assurance reviews.

Good corporate governance and financial governance are inextricably linked. Strong financial governance depends on strong corporate governance, effective leadership, and appropriate oversight from the board and senior management. We are therefore reassured by the governance and assurance work undertaken, which we believe provides a clear vote of confidence in the strength and effectiveness of our business fundamentals and important evidence of the quality of our corporate governance.

Separately, GB Snowsport is pursuing its rights under UK Sport’s published Representations and Appeals Process in relation to the French Alps 2030 Cycle investment decision. GB Snowsport will continue to engage constructively with UK Sport while remaining focused on supporting the interests and the continued success of British ski and snowboard athletes.
