GB ALPINE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026: round-up

Season culminates in celebration of British Alpine racing talent

The GB Alpine Championships 2026 presented by CMC delivered another successful event in Santa Caterina, Italy, bringing together the full spectrum of British alpine talent from FIS to U16, U14, U12 and U10 across both Technical and Speed disciplines.

The Championships were presented by CMC Markets, who were on the ground throughout the event, actively engaging with the team and supporting the delivery of a high-quality competition environment.

THE FIS championships set high performance stANDARDS

The FIS programme provided the highest level of British ski racing, with athletes competing across Downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom and Slalom disciplines.

Throughout the series, the margins remained tightly contested, with multiple performances decided by hundredths of a second and Overall standings coming down to the wire. The British athletes also performed impressively against the international competition in the race, showcasing our presence as a nation on the global-stage.

The event saw a unique opportunity to bring together athletes from across the British team, with the GB World Cup team in attendance for the Slalom National Championships. Laurie Taylor, arriving directly to the Championships from the World Cup Finals, and Billy Major both competed alongside a strong field of emerging talent.

Rising stars including Freddy and Zak Carrick-Smith, Owen Vinter, Max Laughland and Roy Steudle in the Men’s field and Molly Butler, Vici Palla and Gigi Gorringe in the Women’s field, were among those delivering standout performances.

Their presence in the competition provided a clear performance benchmark for developing racers across the sport, inspiring the next generation of athletes.

cutting-edge venue preparation in Santa Caterina

Santa Caterina once again provided a cutting-edge race environment, with organisers going above and beyond to ensure optimal slope preparation across all disciplines. Despite variable weather conditions, the race crew maintained consistently high-quality surfaces throughout the Championships. From expertly salted snow holding firm during periods of rain, to piste-machines deployed after Downhill inspection. The level of preparation was exceptional and ensured fair, safe and high-quality racing.

Strong participation across Children’s races

The Children’s Championships, supported by Minerva Academy saw excellent participation for the U10, U12, U14 and U16 categories.

Fields exceeding 100 athletes highlighted the continued growth of the sport at grassroots level. It was particularly impressive to see the U10 and U12 athletes take on the high-speed Super G.

a testament to the strength of british alpine skiing

Across all age groups, the Championships were characterised not only by performance but also strong sportsmanship, with athletes supporting one another and contributing to a positive and competitive race environment.
