European Freestyle season set for take-off in Chur

Four British athletes set to compete at Swiss resort

The first competitions of the European Freeski and Freestyle Snowboard season are set to get underway in Chur next weekend at the resort’s now traditional Big Air World Cup meet.

The competition has seen some noteworthy British successes in recent years, and last season was the site of Mia Brookes’ first ever Big Air World Cup podium, part of a run of three Big Air top-3 finishes en route to the 2023/24 Big Air Crystal Globe.

The World Cup opens with the Freeski competition on the Friday (18 October), before Saturday night sees Freestyle Snowboard action take the limelight (19 October).

British representation will come in the form of Chris McCormick for Freeski, while the Freestyle Snowboard line-up will see Mia Brookes and Katie Ormerod take to the slopes in the women’s competition, and Txema Mazet-Brown in the men’s.

British Line-Up:

  • Mia Brookes (Women’s Freestyle Snowboard)
  • Txema Mazet-Brown (Men’s Freestyle Snowboard)
  • Chris McCormick (Men’s Freeski)
  • Katie Ormerod (Women’s Freestyle Snowboard)
