GB Snowsport athletes take World Cup wins in Copper and Pinzolo
Zoe Atkin victorious in Copper Mountain Halfpipe
Zoe Atkin followed up a second place finish in last week’s Secret Garden Halfpipe World Cup with victory in Copper Mountain this evening.
The reining Halfpipe World Champion was on dominant form throughout, qualifying in top spot, and then soaring to the top of the standings after the first run of the final with a score of 89.25 which proved insurmountable for the rest of the field.
The 22-year-old now boasts four World Cup podiums in the US resort, with today’s win marking her second Copper Mountain victory, having also been the site of her first ever World Cup win back in December 2019.
Atkin’s final score gave her a victory margin of 9.25 points over her nearest competitor, Australia’s Indra Brown, while Kexin Zhang of China finished in third 11.75 points back from Atkin.
Jaz Taylor takes Gold in Pinzolo Sprint World Cup
32-year-old Jaz Taylor landed her first World Cup podium of the season with victory in the second of athedouble-header Pinzolo Sprint World Cup meet.
Having landed back-to-back fourth place finishes to start the World Cup season, Taylor, the reigning Crystal Globe holder, came out on top in an incredibly tight race which saw the top-3 separated by less than a second.
Taylor’s winning time of 2:22.54 saw her come in 0.64s ahead of France’s Laly Chaucheprat, while Goril Strom Eriksen of Norway rounded out the podium just 0.09s further behind.
The result continues a proud track record for Taylor in World Cup meets in Pinzolo, with the Briton now boasting four World Cup victories in the Italian resort over the six races across the past three seasons.
