Bolton-born Huw Nightingale has carved out a promising snowboard cross career while spending much of his life in Austria, where his family opened a B&B in Westendorf

In December 2021, Huw stepped onto the World Cup circuit with a 28th place debut in Montafon

At the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, he finished 30th in the individual snowboard cross and took 6th in the team event with Charlotte Bankes.

March 2023 marked a major milestone: on his World Championships debut in Bakuriani, Huw and Bankes won gold in the mixed team snowboard cross—Britain’s first world title in that discipline.

In March 2025, Huw and Charlotte Bankes earned a World Cup team podium, finishing second in the mixed team event in Erzurum

At the 2025 World Championships in Engadin (St. Moritz), Huw placed 10th in the individual snowboard cross and 12thin the mixed team event

Huw has steadily progressed from his early junior years to becoming a World Champion in the mixed team event and narrowing the gap in individual performance—breaking into the top 10 at the 2025 World Championships and rising to 35th in the World Cup overall standings. Now confirmed for GB Snowsport’s 2025/26 World Cup squad, he’s poised for further breakthroughs.
