Jon-Allan Butterworth is a four time Paralympic medallist that is joining GB Snowsport as part of a talent transfer inititive from British Cycling.
Jon-Allan served in the Royal Air Force and was injured in a rocket attack on Basrah Air Station in Iraq 2007; this resulted in an above elbow amputation. He joined the GB Cycling team in 2009 after a talent identification day at Loughborough university.
In 2011 on his World Championship debut in Montichiari Jon-Allan won Gold in a world record time in the 1km time trial. He went on to claim a further three World Championship titles in his cycling career.
He competed at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympic Summer Games– he became the first British ex-military athlete to win Gold at a Paralympic Games.
Jon-Allan first learnt to snowboard in Breckenridge in 2007 with the military charity BLESMA and is now looking forward to his first season competing on the slopes.
